Second Knox child sex accused released on bail

A second man charged over child sex allegations at Sydney's Knox grammar school has been released on bail.

Barry Stewart, 70, faced Hornsby local court after being charged with sex offences that date back to the 1980s.

The prosecutor argued the charges are serious and there was a suggestion of grooming of some of the victims.

Stewart's lawyer argued that his client has retired after teaching at the school for 30 years.

He has been granted bail on the condition that he surrender his New Zealand passport and not go to venues where he could come into contact with boys under 18.

The arrest follows the court appearance yesterday of 49-year-old primary school teacher Craig Howard Treloar, who is charged with two counts of indecent assault and two acts of indecency involving two former Knox students dating back to 1986, when the boys were 11 and 12 years old.

Court documents allege Treloar told one of the boys to perform a sexual act on himself, then filmed him doing it.

His lawyer applied for bail, but it was refused.
