Tag: ireland What goes around comes around. Following release of the Murphy Report, which details decades of horrific child abuse in some of Ireland’s state owned, Catholic operated schools, the Councillors of Dublin decided it was time to change the name of Archbishop Ryan park.

Archbishop Ryan was sharply criticized in the Murphy Report for a too-passive attitude toward pursuing allegations of sexual abuse of children.
Good for them. Archbishop Ryan doesn’t deserve the honor.
But who is the leading contender, now, for the honor of having the park named after him? None other than Oscar Wilde, the Irish playwright imprisoned in 1895 for 2-years for “the love that dare not speak its name.”
Poetic justice, indeed. I hope the Councillors muster the backbone to do it.
