Germany: Preliminary Inquiries in Sex Abuse Claims Are Dropped

Preliminary investigations into sexual abuse allegations against a German Roman Catholic bishop, Walter Mixa, 69, left, have been dropped, prosecutors in Ingolstadt said in a statement on Friday, citing lack of evidence.

Pope Benedict XVI accepted the bishop’s resignation last Saturday, following separate allegations of physical abuse of children and financial irregularities at a children’s home.
