Stevens Point Catholic School, Church Sued in Sex Abuse Case

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WTAQ) - A Catholic high school in Stevens Point and church officials are being sued by a man who said a teacher molested him 40 years ago – and the church knew he committed sex abuse before.

A plaintiff identified as “John Doe KD” filed his lawsuit in Portage County against Pacelli High School and the Christian Brothers’ religious order based in Burr Ridge Illinois. The man said Brother Charles “Raimond” Rose sexually assaulted him in 1969 or ’70 when he was 15 and going to school at Pacelli.

And according to the lawsuit, the Christian Brothers knew for 4 years before the attack that Rose had molested a boy at a high school in Minneapolis. And instead of punishing Rose, the church allegedly transferred him to a school in Chicago for 3 years, and then to Pacelli.

The defendants have not commented. 14 molestation lawsuits are pending against Rose in St. Paul Minnesota and Fargo North Dakota. Rose is not a defendant in the Stevens Point lawsuit – and he has not been charged criminally in that case.
