Another Sexual Abuse Complaint against Bishop Eddie Long

Today, yet another young man has filed charges against Bishop Eddie Long. As you may recall, earlier this week, three young men had filed a lawsuit alleging that he had abused them while in the midst of counseling them. Long, who is the pastor of one of the largest mega-churches in the nation, has long been advising against homosexuality in general and, most recently, against gay marriage. In the latest accusation, Spencer Legrande claims that Bishop Long took him on a diplomatic trip to Kenya. While there, Long coerced him into a sexual relationship. At the time, the man was a student at Long’s school, the Longfellows Youth Academy. This man also claimed that Long told him that he will be his dad. The newest plaintiff, Legrande was not actually a member of the Atlanta congregation. Instead, his family belonged to a ‘satellite’ church in Charlotte, NC. According to his complaint, Long provided him with a sleeping pill in order to expedite the sexual component of the relationship.

An interesting footnote that was also released with this newest accusation is that Long provided all of the male students with a ‘sex self-check list.’ Here, the boys were supposed to present a vision of their life, a favorite scriptural verse, and three things they would prefer doing than engaging in sex. He also charged them $500 to attend the academy. Apparently, extracurricular activities came at new additional charge.

One of the earlier plaintiffs, Anthony flagg, has now also added that he moved in with Long when he was 18 years old after getting into trouble. He added that at night, Long would often come into his bed with him. Another of the original claimants, Maurice Robinson, said that he was provided with a car. Also, he was able to go to New Zealand with the pastor. When they returned home is when the sexual activities allegedly began.

As usual in these cases, Long’s congregation publicly remains supportive of the good pastor. He has promised to clarify this situation at church services tomorrow. You can watch a video detailing the current status of charges below.
